Girl's Trip To Nana's
Paisley + I made time in our schedule before school started to take a road trip to Nana + Papa’s for some quality girly time! Now that we are back in school now, I’m enjoying being able to get all caught up with our most recent updates and adventures.
It’s important to us as a blended family and me as a mama just to make time for the kids individually. It’s really hard with busy schedules and even harder with a special needs child to create this time but it is definitely needed and we try our best to do something special for them when we can.
As far as this trip goes, this was our first girly road trip that we decided to create as just a girly sleepover at Nana’s. We decided right away that this will be a traditional thing. Not only did we have so much fun with hardly any plans, but now that Pais is old enough to really have good conversations and understand things, I want her to be able to keep her own bond close and maybe one day have sleepovers with Nana on her own! It will be such a memory for her, I know.
To start off our trip, her and I arrived around 5 pm and we noticed and loved that she had so many different vibrant patterns between her outfit and her bags! We dropped off our things in our room and went for a nice walk with Nana during sunset time. The weather was beautiful! She clunked around in her new cowgirl boots, told us stories and opinions on life ha (sigh oh, the innocence) we took a fun shadow photo, we found a heart in the cement and she found a heart-shaped leaf. More than anything though, I just wanted her to be able to have these photos as memories for herself to look back on one day. So we soaked in all the quiet (seriously though, my mind didn’t even know what to do) and girly moments together without having to share our focus or our time on anyone else for the next 24 hours.
After it got dark outside, Papa said that he had a surprise for Paisley. Whenever she knows there is a surprise, she can’t take it…. so she guesses and guesses until she can’t anymore haha. Papa said that we had to wait until the sun went all the way down before she could see so she guessed it!
She got to go for a ride in the slingshot (with the lights lit up!) all the way to Dairy Queen for dessert! What a special girl and what a FUN ride! Nana and I drove separate and diiiiied laughing at her waving to us in the car as they slowly passed us on the way. Her hair blew in the wind like crazy and the excitement on her face was priceless as she waved. I will never forget that vision.
The next morning, Nana and I enjoyed the morning chatting and Paisley slept in! We waited and waited until we finally went in to wake her up and be silly haha.
She went swimming for a little bit at her cousins who lived down the street and then came back for a relaxing day and art projects. We got a bunch of magazines and cut out inspiring words and photos that described us, what we liked, our passions and things we loved. It was such a relaxing and therapeutic project and now she has a notebook to fill whenever she gets bored or needs to be inspired with things to make her happy. Creating is such a magical thing.
As the afternoon crept up on us and Papa was heading home, we packed up all of our things to be heading home soon. One last thing to end our trip? Dinner of course! Paisley got a big cheeseburger and Papa gave her a gold dollar! Gosh, I hope she remembers all of these little moments someday. Hopefully all of these photos I’m taking for her will help! Ha.
Thank you for such a simple and fun trip Nana + Papa! We already can’t wait to plan our next one soon!
