Welcome to Our Hopeful Homeschool

hello!

If you’re noticing this new tab here in our story, let me tell you - it’s something that has been slowwwly forming itself through our purpose and through some extra answered guidance and prayers! One thing after another has been answered so clearly, people have been sent to me, things have been shown to me…

As our older kids of a blended family have grown, routines have definitely changed and everything has shifted around here. The babes are no longer ‘babies’ and we have entered the time where we talk about schooling in the future while we enter a whole new phase of life in our family.

I’m so excited to announce that we have chosen to homeschool.

I can’t even believe that I am announcing this, as it has always been a secret dream of mine after being ‘a mother.’ After Owen’s diagnosis, I knew I was going to need the extra help no matter what. After being able to have my last two babies, it became aware through some other experiences that I could still allow this dream to truly become a successful reality. Some dreams that I was pursuing within the lines of mentoring and helping others over time slowly got pushed away and finally got crushed. I was hurt and didn’t know what was happening. After the dust settled and taking some time to reflect I was realizing in this phase of life I’ve been guided to mentor my own children instead.

a heartfelt reminder for you

When you’re in the thick of it, things never seem to make sense. It’s so hard. You get hurt, you get shifted. It’s not because you didn’t plan it out right, it’s because they were not His plan for you. And instead, you are needed somewhere else in life. When you look back on your past, everything lines up… right? There may not be happy times, of course, but everything has lined up exactly the way it was supposed to for you to be where you are in this moment.

Owen is slowly progressing in his disease of Sanfilippo Syndrome and is another important reason that this was such a blessing and special option for us. We’ve made many lists of comparison, which we don’t need to get into here, and in the end there are way more reasons than not in which homeschool is going to work out perfectly for our family.

To answer two main questions:
Owen will still go to his school twice a week. He needs this :)
And yes, my kids will be socialized… eye roll *

When I look at the biggest picture, homeschooling is a lifestyle. And it’s a lifestyle that we are doing on a daily basis already. Homeschool is not like public school and should not be viewed in that way. It’s not for every family, we get it. But it is a lifestyle in our home and I’m looking so forward to being right beside my children along the way as they grow and be able to watch their passions flourish!

If you’re against it, it may be because you haven’t heard enough about it for you to feel comfortable and that’s ok! We don’t need outside opinions or thoughts on this because we already know what’s going to be best for our family. We will be here to share our journey when I feel is best so you can see some creative moments of learning happening (and most of all the memories that will be made) and in the meantime, I encourage you to keep an open heart and an open mind within the love of learning that is capable of happening in homeschooling!

We have started our own Homeschool Instagram page, Our Hopeful Homeschool, so that I can share specific homeschool things there with you. There will also be things that I plan to create for us that I can add to our shop to share with you if you’d like for your family too!

Why did we choose the name
‘Our Hopeful Homeschool’?

As our son, Owen, lives with a degenerative terminal disease, we wanted to use something that allowed our story to be told through the hope that we live by in our home daily. ‘These are the days’ and ‘one day at a time’ are big mottos for us here and together, it just makes sense that with hope, we can continue to make everlasting memories together with more flexibility and freedom at a slower pace and enjoy learning through life together.

Stay tuned for some fun blog posts in the future!
We just got done learning all about birds to bring in the Spring and I’ll be sharing that post asap this week.

Our next adventure awaits! (as my heart tears up writing this)
Thank you so much for being here with us!

Where are all of our homeschooling families / mamas at?

xx
