"Dear Calvin,
The day you were born was the day your father and I learned what it means to love someone unconditionally within seconds. You changed our lives forever.
Your due date came and we went to see the doctor who surprisingly told us I dilated. I didn't think I had been having contractions so this was a surprise and we instantly got anxious for you to arrive. When I went back to work, the contractions started and I quietly prepared my office to be gone for the next 3 months.
That night the contractions got closer together and my instincts kicked in-you were truly on your way! I woke your father up and we made our way to the hospital and arrived around 2am. I was already half way dilated and we settled in for the long night ahead. Your father and I paced the hallways until I couldn't walk any longer-you were ready to make an appearance into the world! About 9am things were ready and the nurses gathered but you decided you had to make a dramatic entrance. I was wheeled into surgery for an emergency c section and your father waited for news in the hallway. You were born at 10:08am, perfect in every way.
I woke up an hour later to your father rocking you in his arms. I already loved you and my love for your father grew in that moment. It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. I started crying as he brought you over for me to see your perfect little face and told me your name. I prayed for a healthy little boy for months and couldn't believe you were finally here. You are everything we have ever dreamed of and more.
As I sit here writing down the story of how you came into this world, you are snuggled up on my chest sound asleep. I still can't believe you are here, dear son. You have already taught me so much and I can't imagine our lives without you. I love you so much, always and forever.
